Washer Won't Spin

A washer that completes fill, wash, and even drain, but never reaches full spin speed, points to a specific set of parts different from a washer that will not run at all -- the machine is clearly getting power and running its control logic correctly, so the failure is isolated to the spin function itself.

Many washers deliberately refuse to spin, and only spin, if the door or lid safety switch is not confirmed locked, since spinning at full speed with an open door or lid would be dangerous -- always rule out the switch before suspecting a mechanical drive component.

If the Washer Spins Partially

A washer that reaches a slow, weak spin but never the full high-speed spin is showing a different pattern than one that makes no spin attempt at all -- a partial spin more often points to a slipping clutch or belt working intermittently, while no attempt at all more often points to the lid switch or door latch.

Tools You Will Need
