Appliance Leaking Water — Common Causes & Parts
Appliance Leaking Water
Water leaks can come from washers, refrigerators, or dishwashers. The cause depends on where the leak appears.
Washer Leaks
- Door Boot Seal (front-load) — Torn boot gasket = leak at the front door.
- Water Inlet Valve — Cracked valve body or loose hose fitting leaks at the back.
- Tub Seal / Bearing — Leak from under the machine during spin.
Refrigerator Leaks
- Defrost Drain (clogged) — Ice melts and overflows onto the floor instead of draining to the pan.
- Water Filter / Supply Line — Loose connections at the filter or ice maker line.
- Ice Maker Assembly — Cracked fill tube or overfilling ice maker tray.
Dishwasher Leaks
- Door Gasket — Most common. Worn or out-of-position door seal.
- Pump Seal — Leak under the unit during wash cycle.
- Spray Arm Cap — Loose cap sprays water sideways onto the door.
